Tap-A-Draft

Tap-A-Draft was originally designed so that you could enjoy draft beer at home at a fraction of the cost of conventional kegging systems. It is also a convenient size for carrying to parties, etc.

How Does Tap-a-Draft Work?

Tap-A-Draft uses patented technology and food-grade cartridges to help keep your beverages fresh and dispensing properly. As your drink is poured through the Tap-A-Draft System, gas is allowed to enter the bottle to maintain the pressure in the container. For carbonated beverages like beer and soda, using CO2 cartridges, the Tap-A-Draft System keeps the level of carbonation accurate and the taste fresh. Using Nitrous or Argon cartridges with wine will create a barrier to help prevent oxidization of the beverage.

Can I force carbonate a beverage?

Yes, you may use the Tap-A-Draft System to force carbonate a beverage. This, however, will require more than one CO2 cartridge over several days. You would fill the bottle and put on the dispenser per the instructions. You would then pierce your first CO2 cartridge and refrigerate your beverage. Over the next 2 to 3 days, the CO2 will be released into the beverage. When the bottle feels "soft", the CO2 cartridge has been dispensed into the beverage. The CO2 cartridge can then be removed and a new CO2 cartridge can be put into the system. Repeat this until the bottle stays "firm". This will mean your beverage is carbonated and ready to dispense.

Please note that when the bottle is "firm", it usually means there is still gas left in the cartridge. If removed, you will most likely get some "hissing" and feel pressure from the cartridge. Please use caution.

Most home brewers prefer to use priming sugar to carbonate their brew, and then wait to install the dispenser until the beverage is naturally carbonated. However, some people do like to "force carbonate" beverages like juices for their kids.

Does it matter what size cartridges I use?

Yes. Our model tap (white) uses two 8-gram cartridges. These cartridges and cartridge holders ARE NOT interchangeable. To help insure proper functionality, please use only approved cartridges.

Keep Tap-a-draft bottle upright when filling and when full so that beer does not leak out while carbonating. When fully carbonated, refrigerate. Once brew is cold and you are ready to drink, attach draft dispenser to tap-a-draft bottle, making sure you have with 2 full 8 gram CO2 cartridges installed.

Tap-A-Draft is good for 10 uses or more as long as you do not use boiling water or harsh chemicals to clean.
